If you’ve visited Greenfield Town Hall recently and noticed the grounds looking especially sharp, or if you’ve had an encounter with a wandering dog in town, there’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with Channon Emigh.
Emigh serves the Town of Greenfield in a unique dual role as both Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and Dog Control Officer — two positions that keep him busy across all five of the town’s hamlets and its growing network of parks and public spaces.
On the buildings and grounds side, Emigh is responsible for maintaining Town Hall at 7 Wilton Road, as well as the town’s community facilities, parks infrastructure, and public spaces. His work ranges from seasonal maintenance and landscaping to ensuring the town’s buildings are safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and staff.
“I take a lot of pride in how our town facilities look and feel,” Emigh said. “When people come to Town Hall or visit one of our parks, I want them to see a community that cares about its spaces.”
As Dog Control Officer, Emigh handles calls about stray, loose, or lost dogs throughout the town’s 41,000-plus acres. He works with residents to reunite lost pets with their owners and enforces the town’s animal control ordinances.
The role also connects to the town’s popular Dog Park at Porter Corners Park, where dogs can run off-leash in a fenced area with agility equipment. All Dog Park visitors must register annually at Town Hall beginning February 1 each year.
Residents needing to report a dog-related concern can reach Emigh through Town Hall at 518-893-7432.
