The Town of Greenfield Town Board voted unanimously at its January organizational meeting to adopt the 2026 fiscal year budget, directing significant investment toward the town’s parks system, road infrastructure, and community facilities.
The approved budget maintains a stable tax rate while allocating increased funding for several key priorities that residents have identified through recent community surveys and public hearings.
Park improvements lead the spending plan, with funds earmarked for continued trail development at Brookhaven Park, playground equipment upgrades at Middle Grove Park, and maintenance improvements at Porter Corners Park. The budget also includes funding for the popular Dog Park at Porter Corners, which requires annual registration beginning February 1.
“Our parks are among our greatest assets as a community,” said Town Supervisor Mike Gyarmathy. “The investments we’re making today will serve Greenfield families for generations.”
On the infrastructure side, the Highway Department will receive funding for an expanded road resurfacing program targeting several heavily-traveled town roads. Drainage improvements in flood-prone areas are also included in the plan.
The budget also provides for continued support of the Brookhaven Food Pantry, senior programs, and the Greenfield Historical Society’s Farmers Market, which runs Friday afternoons from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Middle Grove Park during the summer months.
Residents can review the full budget document at Town Hall, located at 7 Wilton Road in Greenfield Center, during regular business hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
