The Town of Greenfield’s Brookhaven Park in Porter Corners is set to welcome hikers, joggers, and nature enthusiasts to an expanded trail system this spring, thanks to a third consecutive grant from the Saratoga County Trails Grant Program.
The expansion adds approximately 1.2 miles of new stone dust trails through the park’s heavily wooded 300-acre landscape, which borders the southern Adirondacks. The new routes include a creekside loop and a ridge trail that offers views of the surrounding hills.
“Every year we’ve been able to add to this incredible park, and every year more residents discover it,” said Town Supervisor Mike Gyarmathy. “Our vision is a full network of summer trails that complement the winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing experience.”
Brookhaven Park has long been a winter destination, with its free Brookhaven Winter Park offering 20 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoeing trails maintained by a dedicated team of resident volunteers. The summer trail expansion means the park is becoming a true year-round recreation hub.
The Town’s Highway Department crew began clearing and surfacing the new trails in late fall, using a combination of wide clearing and stone dust surface suitable for walking, jogging, and mountain biking. Three loop options of varying lengths allow visitors to choose their distance, from a quick quarter-mile stroll to the full 2-mile circuit.
The park is located at 333 Alpine Meadows Road in Porter Corners, directly across the street from the award-winning Brookhaven Golf Course and its View Restaurant. Parking is available on-site, and leashed dogs are welcome on all trails.
Trail maps will be available via QR codes posted at each trailhead. For the latest trail conditions and updates, follow the Town of Greenfield on Facebook.
